⚖ PRODUCT SPECIFICATION

Ontario's Highway Traffic Act requires commercial vehicles over 4,500 kg GVW to display the operator's name and CVOR number on both sides of the vehicle in characters at least 50 mm (2 inches) high per O.Reg 424/97 s.10. Our door lettering kit delivers pre-cut, transfer-tape-ready vinyl sized to the published regulation — no measuring, no sign shop, no guesswork.

What's Included

  • Both cab doors — driver and passenger side panels
  • CVOR number + company name pre-cut to regulation height
  • Optional phone number line (select CVOR + Name + Phone package)
  • Transfer tape pre-applied — peel, position, squeegee, done
  • Made in Canada on 5+ year outdoor cast vinyl

⚠ MTO Out-of-Service Risk

Missing or non-compliant door lettering is an out-of-service defect under NSC Out-of-Service Criteria. An MTO enforcement officer at the Vineland, Fort Erie, or Port Hope scales can issue an immediate out-of-service order — your truck cannot move until corrected. Fines under the HTA range from $310 to $3,000.

Height Guide

  • 50 mm (2 inch) — Legal Minimum: Meets the O.Reg 424/97 s.10 requirement. Suitable for vehicles where cab door space is limited.
  • 75 mm (3 inch) — Recommended: Exceeds the legal minimum by 50%. Easier for MTO inspectors to read at a distance. Reduces risk of a re-inspection for legibility.

Installation — Under 20 Minutes

  1. Wipe both cab doors with isopropyl alcohol — surface must be clean and above 10°C.
  2. Peel the backing from the transfer tape panel.
  3. Align the top edge of the panel using the door seam as a guide.
  4. Squeegee firmly from centre outward to push out air.
  5. Peel transfer tape slowly at 180° — if any letter lifts, press back and squeegee again.
  6. Repeat on the passenger door. Both sides must show identical information.

Frequently Asked Questions

The verified Ontario rule is to carry the CVOR certificate in the vehicle under O. Reg. 424/97. We collect operator name, unit number, vehicle details and any USDOT number so the order can be produced as fleet identification without inventing an Ontario CVOR door-marking requirement.
