HTA s.103(1) requires the owner name on both sides of every commercial motor vehicle, attached or painted and clearly visible. It sets no fixed letter height. HTA s.16(3)(a) requires the driver to carry the original or a copy of the CVOR certificate, or the original or a copy of the lease for a leased vehicle. Displaying a CVOR number on the vehicle exterior is optional in Ontario. For covered US operations, 49 CFR 390.21 requires legal name or one trade name and USDOT number on both sides of the power unit, in sharp contrast and readable from 50 feet in daylight while stationary; no fixed letter height.

Cross-border trucks need a valid CVOR (Ontario — the driver carries the original or a copy of the CVOR certificate, or the original or a copy of the lease for a leased vehicle (HTA s.16(3)(a))) and a USDOT number displayed on both sides of the cab (US federal).
