Product details

Replace a worn, removed, repainted or incorrect Pleasure Craft Licence number display. This order supplies two matching bow-number decals using the exact PCL number you enter. It does not submit a renewal, ownership transfer, information update or new licence application.

Renewal and transfer do not automatically change the number

Transport Canada says a PCL number stays with the pleasure craft for its life. The new owner transfers the existing licence into the new owner's name. A current PCL is valid for five years from issue, transfer or renewal, and listed owner or craft information changes must be updated within 30 days.

Keep the existing hull numbers when they remain correct, clear and properly displayed. Order this replacement pair when the old numbers are worn, damaged, removed for repainting, poorly contrasted or different from the current or temporary PCL document.

Choose the finished character height

  • 3 inch (76 mm): the current federal minimum-height choice.
  • 4 inch: a larger display choice for more hull visibility.
  • 6 inch: the largest current option for a larger bow area.

Choose Standard Vinyl or Reflective Vinyl. Reflectivity is optional; the federal display rule requires contrasting block characters rather than a reflective grade. Overall decal width follows the exact number.

Submit the current PCL number

  1. Select the transaction or reason for remarking.
  2. Enter the exact number from the current or temporary PCL document.
  3. Enter the hull colour to confirm contrast.
  4. Check the selected height and finish before checkout.

Install one decal on each side of the bow, above the waterline, in a location that remains clear and readable. Do not alter, conceal or invent a PCL number.

  • The intake records the PCL transaction or remarking reason and exact current number.
  • Every current offer supplies a pair for both sides of the bow.
  • The 3-inch, 4-inch and 6-inch choices are shown with standard and reflective prices.
  • Renewal, transfer and licence updates remain Transport Canada processes.

Questions buyers ask

Does this product renew or transfer my Pleasure Craft Licence?

No. Government PCL transactions are completed with Transport Canada. This product supplies a replacement pair of bow-number decals using the exact number you enter.

Does the PCL number change when a boat is sold?

Transport Canada says the PCL number stays with the pleasure craft for its life. The new owner transfers the licence into the new owner's name.

How soon must a buyer transfer a Canadian PCL?

Transport Canada directs a buyer to transfer an existing Canadian PCL within 30 days of the ownership change. Current transition-document rules still apply while the transfer is processed.

How often must a Pleasure Craft Licence be renewed?

A current PCL is valid for five years from issue, transfer or renewal. Transport Canada currently allows renewal during the three months before expiry.

Do I need new decals every time I renew or transfer the PCL?

Not automatically. Reuse clear, correct markings that still meet the display instructions. Order replacements when numbers are worn, removed, repainted, damaged or different from the current document.

What size and finish should replacement PCL numbers use?

Choose at least 3-inch characters and a colour that contrasts with the hull. The current 3-inch, 4-inch and 6-inch choices all meet the height minimum. Reflectivity is optional.
