Product details

Mark both sides of one utility, cargo or service trailer with the same internal ID. Each selected item includes one matching pair of single-line decals: two decals carrying the same proofed trailer ID, unit number or fleet code.

What one selected item includes

  • One matching pair: two decals with the same ID.
  • One single-line ID up to 12 characters, including spaces and hyphens.
  • The selected 2 inch, 3 inch or 4 inch target finished character height.
  • The selected White Vinyl, Black Vinyl or Reflective White finish.
  • A proof check before production. Overall decal width follows the approved text and layout.

Cart quantity is the number of matching pairs. For three trailers with three different IDs, order quantity three and place a separate order line for each ID.

Choose the character height and finish

  • 2 inch Small ID: White or Black Vinyl $49.99 CAD; Reflective White $64.99 CAD.
  • 3 inch Standard ID: White or Black Vinyl $59.99 CAD; Reflective White $79.99 CAD.
  • 4 inch Large Visibility: White or Black Vinyl $69.99 CAD; Reflective White $89.99 CAD.

The selected size is the target finished height of the characters, not the carrier sheet or overall decal width. Use 2 inch characters for compact panels and close-range identification, 3 inch for a common trailer-side fleet ID, and 4 inch where the panel and viewing distance call for larger lettering. Measure the available width before approving the proof.

Choose white for a dark surface and black for a light surface. Reflective White is a separate visibility finish; the option name does not represent a stated reflectivity grade, regulatory display requirement or fixed service-life promise.

Enter the exact trailer ID

Enter up to 12 characters, such as UNIT-25, TRL-003 or T-14. The intake saves the exact text, selected order option, placement, surface colour and pair quantity with the order. Do not enter a number intended to imitate an Ontario licence plate or replace a VIN or manufacturer identifier.

Supplemental fleet ID, not trailer registration

These decals help owners, contractors, rental operators and fleets identify their own trailers. They are optional supplemental markings. They do not supply or replace an Ontario trailer permit, Ministry licence plate, VIN plate, manufacturer identification mark or registration service.

Ontario's trailer-registration guidance explains the permit and plate process. Regulation 628, subsection 9(4) places the official trailer plate conspicuously at the rear. Highway Traffic Act section 13 requires the plate to remain visible and prohibits another number from being displayed in a way that confuses the plate's identity.

Keep the custom ID visually separate from the official rear plate, lights, VIN and manufacturer labels. For a trailer over 1,360 kg manufacturer GVWR, the Act's permanently affixed identification requirement remains a separate matter; do not treat a removable fleet decal as a VIN substitute.

Prepare the placement area

  1. Measure the usable flat area on both intended positions.
  2. Choose a finish that contrasts with the surface colour.
  3. Enter the exact ID and review every character.
  4. Approve the finished character height and overall proof width.
  5. Apply to a clean, dry, smooth surface away from the plate, lights, hinges and permanent identification.

One item equals one matching pair for one ID. Increase cart quantity for additional identical pairs; use separate configured lines when the IDs differ.

Live product contractThe product has nine active variants: 2 inch (50.8 mm) Small ID, 3 inch (76.2 mm) Standard ID and 4 inch (101.6 mm) Large Visibility, each in White Vinyl, Black Vinyl or Reflective White. Supplemental fleet marking onlyThis product is an optional custom trailer ID, unit number or fleet code marking. It is not a Ministry-issued licence plate, vehicle permit, VIN plate, manufacturer identification mark or registration service.Ontario trailer-registration guidance; Highway Traffic Act, subsections 7(4) and 10(2)
Trailer registration and plate remain separateOntario's trailer-registration guidance says a utility or recreational trailer must be registered before it is towed on a public road and that registration supplies the trailer licence plate and vehicle permit. Buying a custom fleet ID decal does not complete that process or supply those documents.Ontario Ministry of Transportation, Register a trailer
Official plate locationThe Ontario trailer plate is attached to and exposed in a conspicuous position on the rear of the trailer. A custom ID decal must not cover, crowd or be presented as that plate.R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 628, subsection 9(4)
Do not confuse or obstruct the plateThe Highway Traffic Act prohibits another number from being exposed on a motor vehicle or trailer in a position or manner that confuses the identity of the Ministry plate. It also requires the entire plate and its numbers to remain plainly visible and unobstructed.Highway Traffic Act, subsections 13(1) and 13(2)
Permanent identification requirement is separateFor a trailer with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating over 1,360 kg, subsection 10(2) requires an identification number to be permanently affixed before the trailer is drawn on a highway. Do not assume a removable custom vinyl fleet code satisfies that requirement, and do not cover, alter or replace the trailer's manufacturer or government identification.Highway Traffic Act, subsection 10(2)
No verified legal size for optional fleet IDsThe cited Ontario trailer-registration, plate-display and identification-number sources do not state a minimum, recommended or mandatory character height for an optional supplemental fleet or unit number. The live 2 inch, 3 inch and 4 inch choices must not be described as a legal minimum, an Ontario recommendation or proof of compliance.Highway Traffic Act, sections 7, 10 and 13; R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 628, subsection 9(4)
Pair, text and finished sizeOne selected item supplies one matching pair of single-line trailer ID decals. Enter up to 12 characters. Questions buyers ask

Are utility trailer ID decals required by Ontario law?

These are optional supplemental fleet and unit-number markings. The cited Ontario sources require the trailer permit and Ministry licence plate for road use, but they do not establish a size rule for an optional custom fleet ID decal.

Do these decals replace the trailer licence plate, permit or VIN?

No. They do not replace a Ministry licence plate, trailer permit, VIN plate, manufacturer identification mark or registration service.

What size options are live?

The finished character-height options are 2 inch (50.8 mm), 3 inch (76.2 mm) and 4 inch (101.6 mm). Overall width varies with the entered text. These are retail choices, not Ontario legal classifications.

Which finishes can I order?

Each live size is offered in White Vinyl, Black Vinyl or Reflective White. These are finish labels only; the product variants do not identify a film grade, retroreflectivity standard or fixed service life.

Where can I place a supplemental trailer ID?

Use a clean, dry, smooth surface where the fleet ID is useful, but keep it separate from the official rear licence plate. Ontario law says another number must not be positioned or presented so it can be confused with the plate, and the entire plate must remain visible.

What text should I enter?

Enter up to 12 characters for one single-line internal trailer ID, unit number or fleet code, such as UNIT-25, TRL-003 or T-14. Do not enter a number intended to imitate an Ontario plate or replace the trailer's VIN or manufacturer identifier.

How many decals are included?

Each selected item includes one matching pair of decals carrying the same proofed ID. Set cart quantity to the number of matching pairs required.

Does the price include registration or legal review?

No. The listed price covers one matching pair in the selected target character height and finish. Trailer registration, legal review and government-issued identification are separate.
