Stay on the Road and Out of the Out-of-Service Bay
An MTO roadside stop or CVSA inspection is not the moment to discover your trailer is missing compliant conspicuity tape. DOT-C2 trailer conspicuity tape Canada fleets depend on — sized by the roll, certified to the standard, and stocked for same-week shipping across Ontario.
What You Get
Alternating red and white DOT-C2 reflective segments on a pressure-sensitive backing, cut-ready and sized to standard trailer lengths. Available in 25 ft, 50 ft, and 150 ft rolls — no partial rolls, no waste, no guesswork on quantity.
- DOT-C2 grade reflective sheeting with permanent embossed certification markings accepted under Transport Canada Technical Standards Document (TSD) 108
- Roll lengths matched to cover one or both sides of a standard 53-foot trailer to the required 50% side-coverage threshold
- Aggressive adhesive bonds to aluminium, steel, and fibreglass trailer surfaces without primer on clean substrates
- Made in Canada — printed and cut on Canadian equipment, shipped from Ontario stock
How It Works
CMVSS 108 requires trailers over 4,536 kg GVWR to carry conspicuity tape covering at least 50% of the trailer's side length and the full rear width. The calculation is straightforward: measure your trailer's side rail length, multiply by 0.5, and that's the minimum linear footage required per side. A single 50 ft roll handles one side of most 53-foot trailers; a 150 ft roll covers both sides and the rear with material to spare.
- Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely before application
- Apply tape to the lower half of the trailer side — between 375 mm and 1,525 mm from the ground — for full CMVSS 108 placement compliance
- Overlap and trim at ribs or structural breaks; inspectors measure coverage percentage, not tape continuity
- No heat gun or primer required on most metal and fibreglass surfaces
Why It Works
Generic reflective tape and DOT-C2 tape look similar in the roll. The difference shows up at inspection. DOT-C2 tape carries a permanent embossed certification mark visible every 300 mm along its length — the mark an MTO or CVSA inspector checks to confirm the material meets the standard, not just the colour. Tape without that mark can trigger a defect notice even when it appears reflective on the surface.
- DOT-C2 is the specific grade required under CMVSS 108 — not DOT-C1, not unmarked reflective film
- Non-compliance carries substantial fines under the Highway Traffic Act and can result in an out-of-service order that pulls a trailer from revenue service on the spot
- Recognised by CVSA inspectors at Ontario ports of entry and roadside check stops — not just technically compliant on paper
- Priced per roll so fleet managers can stock and budget by trailer count without tracking remnants or partial cuts
