E-Bike Compliance Labels
Vaughan, Ontario
E-bike ridership across Vaughan's Woodbridge, Maple, and Concord areas has expanded rapidly alongside the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway station. York Regional Police enforce O. Reg 369/09 on Jane St, the Boyd Conservation Area trails, and at subway-area cycling infrastructure.
E-Bike Enforcement in Vaughan
York Regional Police officers conduct compliance checks on Jane St, Rutherford Rd, and Islington Ave for O. Reg 369/09 adherence. Boyd Conservation Area and the Humber Valley Trail through Woodbridge are priority patrol zones for mixed-use trail enforcement.
Common violations in the Maple and Concord areas include e-bikes exceeding the 32 km/h speed limit, missing the required bilingual compliance label, and riders under 16 without helmets. Officers also monitor the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) area where e-bike commuters increasingly use the subway connection for last-mile trips.
With Vaughan's fast-growing population and active trail network, enforcement is consistent across all community areas. Dealers near Vaughan Mills, on Jane St, and in the Woodbridge area report growing demand for PAB compliance labels.
Local note: Boyd Conservation Area is managed by TRCA with its own trail access rules. York Regional Police and TRCA rangers both enforce Ontario HTA requirements including the PAB compliance label requirement at Boyd access gates.
