Transport Canada Requirements
Under the Small Vessel Regulations and TP 1332, all motorised pleasure craft in Ontario must:
- Hold a valid Pleasure Craft Licence (PCL) from Transport Canada
- Display the PCL number on both sides of the bow
- Use block letters minimum 76mm (3") tall
- Use a contrasting colour to the hull
- Ensure numbers are visible at 100 metres
Fines for missing or illegible boat numbers start at $250 and can include vessel seizure by Transport Canada enforcement officers.
