What is the difference between reflective and retroreflective tape?
Retroreflective tape bounces light directly back toward the source — meaning headlights illuminate it brightly even at a distance. Standard reflective tape scatters light in multiple directions and is less visible. CMVSS 108 requires retroreflective.
