Ontario Tow Truck Fleet Lettering

For CVOR, Ontario O.Reg 424/97 requires the certificate to be carried in the vehicle. It does not require exterior CVOR number display, operator-name display, 50 mm door lettering, or an Ontario fine for missing CVOR decals.

We provide precision-cut tow truck lettering for company names, unit numbers, CVOR references, GVW-style text, phone numbers, and USDOT markings where they apply. The goal is a clean, professional fleet that customers, job sites, dispatchers, and inspectors can identify quickly.

Verified CVOR Position

  • Ontario CVOR: carry the certificate in the cab.
  • Exterior CVOR reference: optional professional fleet ID in Ontario.
  • US operations: display legal name and USDOT number under FMCSA 49 CFR 390.21.
  • Tow permits / municipal rules: verify separately by authority before production.

Practical Tow Truck Layout

  • Operator or company name: readable customer-facing fleet identity.
  • Unit number: useful for dispatch, yards, invoices, and maintenance.
  • CVOR reference: optional exterior reference, not an Ontario display mandate.
  • GVW-style text: produced only after confirming the applicable weight-marking rule.
  • USDOT number: required when the tow truck operates into the United States.

Materials

Tow trucks work in road salt, UV, pressure washing, and low-light recoveries. We use premium exterior vinyl and can add reflective material where visibility matters. Permanent vinyl is the best long-term fleet option; temporary magnetic signs are only suitable for temporary business identification.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum size for CVOR numbers on a tow truck in Ontario?

Ontario O.Reg 424/97 does not set a CVOR exterior-lettering height. We size tow-truck fleet lettering for readability and build USDOT markings to FMCSA 49 CFR 390.21 when the truck operates into the United States.

Do I need to display my gross vehicle weight (GVW)?

GVW requirements vary by vehicle class and authority. We verify the applicable rule before claiming a legal spec.

Can I use a custom font for my company name?

Yes for branding, but fleet identifiers and regulated USDOT text should stay clear and legible.

What happens if my lettering is damaged or peels off?

Replace damaged fleet lettering so customers, job sites, and any applicable authority can read it clearly.
