Ontario snowmobile registration number pair
Order a proofed pair for the privately painted or affixed-number route in section 23(1)(b) of Ontario Regulation 804. This product does not reproduce Ministry-provided number decals or a government-issued validation device.
Choose the finished character height
- 2 inch (50.8 mm): within the prescribed 5-7.6 cm character-height range.
- 76 mm: the largest offered finished height within the prescribed maximum.
- Standard or reflective vinyl: choose the finish that provides clear contrast with the cowling.
Placement and geometry
Apply one number to each side of the cowling. The rear limit of each number must be 10-15 cm from the rear of the cowling. Regulation 804 also requires contrasting colour, uniform digit style and height, a 5-13 mm stroke width and, where practicable, spaces no wider than 5 cm.
What to provide
Enter the registration number exactly as shown on the vehicle record and provide the cowling colour. We send a proof showing the number, finished height and contrast choice before production.
What is not included
Ministry-provided number decals, permits and validation devices are not included. Keep the finished registration number clean, in good repair, visible and unobstructed, and follow the current government process for any issued validation device.

Questions buyers ask
What character height does Ontario require for privately affixed snowmobile registration numbers?
Regulation 804 requires characters at least 5 cm and no more than 7.6 cm high. The offered 2 inch (50.8 mm) and 76 mm finished-height choices are within that prescribed range.
Where do the numbers go on an Ontario snowmobile?
Affix the number to both sides of the cowling. For the privately affixed route, the rear limit of the number must be not less than 10 cm and not more than 15 cm from the rear of the cowling.
What contrast and stroke width are required?
The number must contrast with its background. Regulation 804 requires a 5-13 mm stroke width, digits of uniform style and height, and, where practicable, spaces no wider than 5 cm.
Does this product replace Ministry-provided snowmobile number decals?
No. This product serves the privately painted or affixed-number route in Regulation 804. Ministry-provided decals and their replacement process remain government matters.
Is the government validation device included?
No. A validation device, when issued, is separate and must be placed according to Regulation 804. This product supplies only the custom registration-number pair selected in the order.
What information do you need to produce the pair?
Provide the registration number exactly as shown on the vehicle record, the selected finished height and material, the cowling colour for contrast, and any placement note needed for the proof.
