Fire Extinguisher Location Signs in Ontario

What the Ontario Fire Code says

Division B, Article 6.2.1.5 of Ontario Regulation 213/07 addresses signs or markings for portable extinguisher locations in large floor areas and in locations where visual obstructions cannot be avoided.

This is a location and visibility rule for those conditions. It does not set a universal fire-extinguisher sign size, mounting height, colour, or fine for every building. Confirm the applicable fire safety plan and any direction from your local authority for your site.

Choose a sign for the actual placement

Identify the extinguisher's location, the usual approach path, and any obstruction that makes it hard to see. A location sign or directional marking should make the extinguisher easier to find from that approach.
